Magnificent Metal Monday – Power of Solar

Last week the New York Times reported, “The Biden administration released a blueprint showing how the nation could move toward producing almost half of its electricity from the sun by 2050 — a potentially big step toward fighting climate change but one that would require vast upgrades to the electric grid.” The Energy Department laid out an ambitious blueprint for solar power to go from 4% to 45%.

Join us next month at METALCON where solar will take center stage with its new S-5! sponsored SOLAR EDUCATION CENTER, a dedicated pavilion to discover how solar and metal go hand-in-hand and to learn how to capitalize on the opportunities it present through a variety of exhibits, educational sessions, live demos, and solar trivia games.

Magnificent Metal Monday – Making Solar Affordable

SOLAR OPTIONS LOOKING BRIGHTER

According to the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, “Solar power is more affordable, accessible, and prevalent in the United States than ever before. From just 0.34 GW in 2008, U.S. solar power capacity has grown to an estimated 97.2 gigawatts (GW) today. This is enough to power the equivalent of 18 million average American homes. Today, over 3% of U.S. electricity comes from solar energy in the form of solar photovoltaics (PV) and concentrating solar-thermal power (CSP).”

Solar Industry Sets Records in 2020 and on Track to Quadruple by 2030; METALCON to Feature Solar Solutions

RoofersCoffeeShop reports, “For the second year in a row, solar led all technologies in new electric-generating capacity added, accounting for 43%.” According to the U.S. Solar Market Insight 2020 Year-in-Review report, released today by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Wood Mackenzie, the U.S. solar industry grew 43% and installed a record 19.2 gigawatts (GWdc) of capacity in 2020.

SEIA, along with their members and allies across the energy system, have set an ambitious goal for solar energy to comprise 20% of all U.S. electricity generation by 2030. To reach this target, the industry must work collaboratively across technologies and industries to build a strong Solar+ economy.

Solar Solutions at METALCON

METALCON 2021 is thrilled to be returning to an “IN PERSON” event, scheduled for October 6-8 in Tampa, Florida. As the demand for solar panel installation grows from both the residential and commercial sectors, so has the industry’s appreciation of metal for long-term durability. Discover the latest metal applications for solar at METALCON this year in a dedicated area on the exhibit floor. If you represent a business that manufactures solar components, develops performance monitoring systems or provides smart energy, energy storage or solar consulting services, consider exhibiting at the show. Participating exhibitors will meet hundreds of architects, developers, roofing contractors and others in the METALCON community who are eager to learn about solar energy. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE.
