[National Roofing Week] MRA’s 2021 Best Residential Metal Roofing Project Competition Underway

The search is on for outstanding metal roofing projects (open to U.S. and Canadian homeowners and the trades)

The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) has kicked off its 2021 Best Residential Metal Roofing Project quarterly competition and this year, the opportunity to enter is open to both the trades and homeowners. Beginning Jan. 1, 2021 and running through Dec. 31, 2021 the MRA will award a quarterly winner of the project judged to be the most outstanding example of a great metal roofing project. Celebrating National Roofing Week with the Roofing Alliance

As part of National Roofing Week, METALCON salutes the Roofing Alliance, the foundation of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), as they continue to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Roofing Day 2021 Held Virtually in DC This Week

Roofing industry stakeholders from throughout the U.S. participated virtually in Roofing Day in D.C. 2021 March 23-24.

Led by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and partner organizations, the annual event is an unprecedented effort to share the industry’s message with members of Congress. Traditionally held as a fly-in event in Washington, D.C., Roofing Day in D.C. 2021 was held virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Promoting Diversity in Workforce Development

In celebration of National Roofing Week, we are proud to bring you an amazing story about a collaborative effort being done in Pennsylvania to promote diversity in work force development. ATAS International, one of METALCON’s long-standing exhibitors, was once again involved in their local “Let’s Build Construction Camp for Girls” last month. This year, the “advanced camp” group designed and constructed a shed from the ground up, as part of a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser, including the installation of an ATAS metal roof. Now in its fourth year, this annual event serves as a way for the design and construction community in the Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania area to promote work force development for the industry as a whole. The “greatest economic boom has come to a screeching halt…” commented Frank A. Stasiowski, FAIA, Founder and CEO of PSMJ Resources and Co-Founder of METALCON, in partnership with the Metal Construction Association, in his opening comments of last week’s first METALCON Live industry event. If you tuned in, however, you’ll know that it was not all doom and gloom; in fact, just the opposite. “Re-Igniting Sales and Operations Amidst a World Health Crisis” did just as it promised – it delivered a “no-BS discussion of current challenges and workarounds.”

Nearly 300 participants from all facets of the metal construction industry tuned in last Wednesday as Frank and Rob Haddock, CEO and Founder of S-5! Metal Roof Innovations, commenced METALCON’s first of several upcoming METALCON Live events. Not only did they lend their expertise and share practical steps they are taking in their own businesses, Frank and Rob also asked questions via Zoom’s polling feature that provided an opportunity to discover what is happening across the industry in real time.

Women in Construction Week

Heidi Ellsworth being recognized as the first-ever WORLD AWARD winner NWIR Day last month!

Continuing our focus on Women in Construction Week 2020, we will be highlighting women who are making a difference and initiatives targeted to helping women advance in the roofing and construction industry.

Last month, the third annual National Women in Roofing Day was held on Sunday, February 2, 2020 prior to the start of the International Roofing Expo in Dallas. RCS partner and one of METALCON’s speakers, Heidi J. Ellsworth, kicked off the day, speaking about visualization for success. Heidi has played a key role with METALCON over the past two years, creating and leading several educational sessions about the importance of hiring more women in the industry.
