Inflation, Material Delays and Labor Issues

Credit: Travelers

There is no question the “trifecta of pricing woes” is on everyone’s mind causing business owners and leaders to rethink, strategize, and get creative in order to maintain their profitability. Earlier this month, Construction Dive reported, “Despite a surprisingly strong U.S. January jobs report, nonresidential construction employment fell by 9,000 workers in the heavy and civil engineering sectors as an aging labor force retires or quits; according to The Associated Builders and Contractors, construction unemployment rate rose to 7.1% vs. 4% across all industries; and the third wild card: supply-chain snafus making it harder to count days to completion or shareholder profits.”

Magnificent Metal Monday – Anodized Aluminum Accents St. Louis Skyline

Selected for its vibrant metallic look, three-dimensional visual effect, long lasting and low maintenance, and sustainable qualities, anodized aluminum provided the perfect texture and finish to the new “100 Above The Park” landmark residential tower located near the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.

According to a recent feature article in DesignandBuildwithMetal, “The aluminum surfaces really stand out, at about a 10 degree angle, in tiers of 4-story-high leaves that suggest a golden crown. Architecture writers heralded the confident symbolism of this first St. Louis project of the hot and prolific Chicago architectural firm Studio Gang as ‘the giant crystalline headdress’ appropriately located at 100 Kings Highway. The name ‘100 Above the Park’ describes the design concept: by tilting the curtain wall system towards the greenery of Forest Park below, the apartment complex was specifically designed to connect people in the interior to the surrounding environment.”

The newly completed Municipal Complex located in the Town of Surf City, North Carolina, selected metal roofing because it was able to meet the high-wind requirements of the coast. The article explained “durability as the main consideration for selecting McElroy Metal’s Maxima standing seam metal roofing.”
