
Announced at the recent Metal Building Contractors & Erectors (MBCEA) Conference held jointly with the Metal Building Manufacturing Association (MBMA) in Tucson, Arizona last week, six industry leaders were inducted in this year’s Metal Construction Hall of Fame.
Congratulations to the following individuals:
- Angelo Borzillo – co-inventor of Galvalume, a building material that changed the actual face of the metal construction industry
- Ken Buchinger – helped to lay the foundation for the resilience and reliability of metal building components, ensuring the industry meet specific standards
- Arthur Hance – pushed for metal building contractors and erectors to improve quality and maintain excellence in the industry
- Al Kessel – (1942-2021) – co-creator of the Systems Builders Association in the Carolinas and led that chapter during the transition to the MBCEA
- Harry R. Lowe – grew Nucor Building Systems into a national brand and directed the development of the MBMA’s accreditation program
- Michael F. Petersen – led Petersen Aluminum Corp from a $5 million per year company to doing more than $260 million, becoming an industry leader through adaptation and innovation

Founded in 2012, the goal of the Metal Construction Hall of Fame program is to recognize those individuals who have had a significant impact on the metal construction industry through their innovation, effort and leadership. Nominees are judged in five categories: unique contribution, body of work, legacy, integrity, and longevity. Inductees are nominated in one of three categories.
