Metal Forming Market is Booming

Earlier this year, FluidForming Americas  predicted that, “Despite new tariffs and labor shortfalls, the strong 2018 metal forming market will likely continue well into 2019. In fact, the global metal stamping market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.9% from 2018 to reach 289.2 billion (USD) by 2023 (Research and Markets).”

They explain five reasons for this prediction: 1) Increasing Urbanization and Industrialization, 2) Growing Automotive Industry, 3) Changing Automotive Industry, 4) Increasing Demand from Aerospace and Aviation Industries, and 5) New Advancements in Metal Forming.

Affordable and reliable sheet metal forming is an important driver in industrialization. In recent years, the demand for sheet metal parts with different and complex shapes and properties has increased dramatically, due to the development of new technologies, products, and the evolution of modern industries (Science Direct). The metal forming market for the automotive industry is projected to grow at a CAGR of 2.83% from 2018 to 2025, to reach 269.01 billion (USD) by 2025 (ReportLinker).

Given the growth in this sector of the industry, it is no wonder that METALCON exhibitor and one of the title sponsors of this year’s show, CIDAN Machinery, saw a tremendous amount of interest at their booth last month in Pittsburgh. With over 100 years of experience in the industry, CIDAN Machinery is a one-stop-shop for all your sheet metal machinery and software needs. They can build custom metal folders, shears, and coil processing lines based on business and metal working needs. Also popular among show attendees was METALCON’s special program called “Roll Forming for the Metal Construction Industry: Part I and II,” Sponsored by one of METALCON’s partners association, Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), industry experts presented on the following subtopics: Considerations for Metal Building Roll Formers, Utilizing Exiting Capital Equipment and Tooling, Improve Profitability & Competitiveness through Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Proper Roll Form Tooling Setup and Troubleshooting, Material and How it Affects Metal Building Products in the Roll Forming Process, Advanced Roll Forming of Steel Framing Components, Automation and Material Handling for Roll Formed Products – Emphasizing Operator Safety, Labor Reduction & High-Speed Production. These two programs had the highest number of attendees of all the special programs, clearly an indication of the importance of this part of the industry.
