LIVE from METALCON 2018 – Day 2

As Hurricane Michael blew passed Charlotte today, METALCON continued to “Buzz!”  Dan DiMicco, former CEO of NUCOR Steel and trade advisor to the Trump Administration, kicked things off this morning with a lively Keynote Address to over 200 engaged attendees interested in learning about the state of the US economy,

especially as it relates to the steel and metal industry.  As the Exhibit Hall opened, the aisles filled up with eager attendees wanting to learn the latest from manufacturers. Attendees took advantage of 30-minute education and training sessions in the Learning Centers and enjoyed some cold beer with exhibitors to celebrate Oktoberfest.  Cash prizes were awarded to teams who competed in the second day of the MCA Metal Roofing Championship Games and we look forward to seeing the final fun-off competition happening tomorrow on the show floor. Two $500 cash prizes were awarded by DesignandBuildwithMetal.com in the Innovation Scanner Hunt and we had two lucky winners in the raffle drawing for the Steve Smith autographed NFL football and NFL Jersey.  We finished the day with a very special check presentation of $3,000 to the Steve Smith Family Foundation.  Thank you to everyone who generously donated to make that happen.  Our fundraising efforts will continue tomorrow as we raffle off the final grand prize including 2 tickets to the Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints football game with 2 free nights at the Westin Charlotte for Dec 17, 2018.

The last day of METALCON 2018 is tomorrow – come join us from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Charlotte Convention Center.
