METALCON 2018 will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina October 10-12.  This will be METALCON’s first appearance in the city nicknamed the “Queen City” in honor of Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who had become the Queen of England several years before the city’s inception. While Charlotte is not considered one of the United States’ “major” metropolitan cities … take note, THIS is a city on the rise.  By attending METALCON this year, you will have the chance to explore why this is a city worth seeing.

The city’s roots may have began in the financial services industry, but Charlotte has seen major growth in the healthcare, information technology, and advanced manufacturing business sectors over the past decade.  Its workforce has grown by 23% since 2010!  Six Fortune 500 companies call Charlotte home and it was ranked “2nd Highest Growth in Number of Small Businesses” in 2016. Headquartered in Charlotte and ranked 169th on the 2017 Fortune 500 list is Nucor, the largest US-based steel manufacturer and 12th largest steel producer in the world. Charlotte claims a strong metal manufacturing base with approximately 3,500 people working in related companies.  This thriving business community could mean potential business-to-business opportunities while attending METALCON in October.  For more information, contact Charlotte’s Chamber of Commerce.
You can expect travel to the show to be cost and time efficient as Charlotte boasts the 6th busiest airport in the world, offering 700 daily nonstop flights to over 150 domestic and international cities. Ease of access, walkability, and the weather in October make it a trifecta of reasons why Charlotte will be an ideal location for the METALCON show.  Mark your calendar for October 10-12 and join us.  Our official housing reservation site will open on May 1!  If you book with a different travel company, please note that your reservation may not be guaranteed.
